A little clarity goes a long way
Three things to take away
For adults exploring clear aligners and anyone wanting to understand the everyday commitment involved in orthodontic treatment.
- How removable aligners move teeth and why attachments may be needed.
- What wearing and cleaning aligners involves day to day.
- The role of treatment planning, reviews and retainers.
More about the topics we will explore
How clear aligners work
A sequence of removable aligners applies controlled forces to move teeth gradually. Each set is worn as directed by the treating clinician. Small tooth-coloured attachments or other procedures may be needed; aligners are not the right option for every bite or tooth movement.
The day-to-day commitment
Aligners need consistent wear and are removed for eating and cleaning. Temporary discomfort and changes to speech can occur. Oral hygiene, attendance at reviews and following your clinician's instructions all matter to progress.
Planning and keeping the result
A digital plan can help explain proposed movements, but a simulation is not a guaranteed result. Treatment length and the need for additional aligners vary. Retainers are generally needed after treatment to help limit teeth moving again.
Questions you might bring
- Could braces or another approach be more appropriate?
- How would aligners fit around my routine?
- What is included in treatment, review visits and retention?

Curious about the Invisalign Evening? Leave your name and email address and we will notify you when the date and arrangements are announced. You can then decide whether to book a place.
These evenings provide general educational information, not a clinical assessment. Individual suitability, treatment risks, plans and costs require a separate dental appointment.
