Whether it's been years since your last dental health assessment or you're looking for a new dentist in Nottingham, knowing what to expect makes the first visit much easier.
Before You Arrive
When you book, we'll ask a few questions about your dental history and any concerns. If you're nervous, tell us — we'll make a note and ensure everyone knows to take extra care.
Bring any relevant medical information, especially if you take medications that might affect treatment.
When You Arrive
Our practice is in a beautiful listed building on St James's Terrace in Nottingham. There's a welcoming reception area where you can relax before your appointment. We'll ask you to complete a short health questionnaire if you haven't already done so online.
The Examination
Your dentist will:
- Look at your teeth, gums, and mouth
- Take X-rays if needed (we'll explain why)
- Discuss any concerns you have
- Explain what they find in plain English
- Suggest any treatments that might help
There's no pressure to proceed with anything. The first visit is about understanding your situation and building a relationship.
After the Examination
If treatment is needed, we'll explain your options clearly, including costs and timescales. You'll never be pushed into anything. Take the information away and think about it if you need to.
We'll recommend when to come back for your next dental health assessment or hygienist appointment.
How Long Does It Take?
Allow 30-45 minutes for a first visit. We don't rush — you'll have time to ask questions and feel comfortable.
