Photographs and a preview, where appropriate
Where appropriate, we take photographs and create an illustrative before-and-after smile preview. Both are complimentary; the preview does not establish suitability or predict treatment results.
Understand the next step
Find out how to proceed to a separate dental assessment, where clinical suitability, treatment options, risks and individual costs can be discussed.
From assessment to ongoing care
Your ceramic braces care journey
Tooth-coloured brackets, fixed to your teeth
Ceramic braces are a fixed option for moving teeth, with brackets that blend more closely with tooth colour than metal brackets. The wire can still be visible. Assessment helps establish whether this approach suits your teeth and bite.
Ceramic brackets and a connecting wire apply forces to guide tooth movement. They stay on your teeth during meals and cleaning. A less visible bracket does not make the appliance invisible or remove the need for careful daily care.
Could this be appropriate for you?
Suitability depends on the movements needed, your bite, tooth and gum health and ability to clean around a fixed appliance. Ceramic brackets are not appropriate for every tooth or bite. An assessment is needed even if another appliance has previously been ruled out.
Assess alignment and bite
An orthodontic assessment considers your concerns, dental health and the tooth movements needed. Records or X-rays may be needed where clinically justified.
Compare appliances and costs
Ask which appliances are suitable, what limitations apply and the expected stages and timescale. Confirm the appliance-specific estimate, reviews and retention costs before deciding.
Fit and review the appliance
If treatment proceeds, brackets are attached to the teeth and connected with a wire. Adjustments and reviews form part of active treatment; ask about the schedule and what to do if a bracket or wire breaks.
Move from braces to retention
After active treatment, retainers help limit further tooth movement. Confirm the proposed retainer type, wear instructions, checks and replacement arrangements rather than assuming these are included.
Cleaning and care throughout treatment
Tenderness can follow fitting or adjustment. Follow the advice for your appliance about cleaning around brackets and avoiding foods that could damage it. Elastic components can discolour. Contact the team about persistent pain, a loose bracket or a rubbing wire, and follow your individual retainer instructions after treatment.
Other approaches may be a better fit.
Metal braces or removable clear aligners may be suitable alternatives. They differ in visibility, cleaning, wear requirements and the movements they can address. Choosing no active treatment is also an option to discuss, including any consequences for your dental health.
Treatment costs
The central Fixed Brace fee below is a shared fixed-brace starting reference, not a confirmed ceramic-brace price or complete treatment quote. Assessment and an appliance-specific quote are required. Ask for a written estimate clarifying records, fitting, adjustments, repairs, removal, retainers and ongoing checks; do not assume these are all included.

Before you decide
Treatment considerations
Ceramic braces need careful cleaning, food precautions and retainers afterwards. Brackets can rub, cause soreness or break. Plaque around them can cause decay, white marks and inflamed gums. Gums may recede, tooth roots shorten and teeth move in unwanted ways. Ceramic brackets can chip or affect opposing teeth in some bites. Results and timing vary, and teeth may move again.
Your questions answered
Are white braces the same as ceramic braces?
Here, white braces means fixed braces with tooth-coloured ceramic brackets. Wires and other components can still be visible; the appliance is not invisible.
Can ceramic braces do everything metal braces can?
Not necessarily. The bite, planned movements and appliance design affect the choice. An assessment is needed to compare suitable options rather than assume identical suitability or results.
Can ceramic braces stain?
Elastic components can pick up colour from food and drink. Follow the cleaning advice for your appliance and ask about discolouration at review; appearance alone does not indicate how well the teeth are moving.
Does the fixed-brace starting fee confirm my ceramic-brace cost?
No. It is a shared fixed-brace fee reference. Confirm an appliance-specific quote after assessment, including what is charged separately and the cost of retention.
